Washington state’s initiative process – born in 1914, killed in 2025?
This Democrat bill — SB 5382 — will do this to the initiative process:
Yesterday’s hearing was completely manipulated to minimize the time for citizens to testify and for Republicans to ask questions.
6 bills were heard – SB 5382 was last (a bill naming a particular type of cactus as WA’s official cactus was heard before this one!!).
As I listened to the Democrat sponsors and their hand-picked cronies claim they were pushing it because they wanted to “protect the initiative process” — to “strengthen” it — to “preserve” it, I got angrier and angrier.
With just a few minutes left to hear from opponents, I finally had my chance to speak.

This is the most disingenuous, dangerous bill being pushed in Olympia right now (and that’s saying something because there’s a lot of them).
The proponents of SB 5382 hide their true intention which is to kill the initiative process by imposing unnecessary, burdensome, costly requirements on citizens so as to effectively eliminate the right to initiative with this regulate-to-death scheme.
But after seeing the passion of me and others at yesterday’s hearing, I KNOW THAT TOGETHER, WE CAN KILL IT.
But I need everyone’s help to do it.
I ask all of you to send emails to all 147 legislators (if you did it yesterday, it’s totally fine to send a new one today).
Send 2 emails: one to the Senate and one to the House.

SB 5382 actually CRIMINALIZES signature gathering which I will remind you is a constitutionally guaranteed right under the First Amendment. By saying a petition filled with perfectly valid voter signatures MUST BE THROWN IN THE GARBAGE unless the circulator puts themselves in civil and criminal liability ($5000 fine and/or 364 days in jail), it is clear SB 5382 is meant to SCARE people from collecting signatures for ballot measures. And without willing citizens helping do so, the constitutionally guaranteed right to initiative NO LONGER EXISTS.
When a bill infringes on a 1st Amendment right — which petitioning clearly is — to be constitutional, the bill must address a demonstrated, not theoretical, problem IN THIS STATE.
Info provided by WA’s Secretary of State shows there is none here.
I urge every legislator to fight back and stop SENATE BILL 5382.
The initiative process is OURS, not yours. LEAVE IT ALONE.

yeah…um ill maybe believe in the system again as soon as Linda Rae Hamilton at the office of financial management is put in prison along each and every thurston county sheriff that went along with her lying ass game against me that ahe pulled on me in september 2019! this bullshit she pulled started as a DV…..oh wait….was never formally charged with a DV (because there never was a DV) Oh clerk of the court never caught that to throw it out…imagine that?! Apparently the DV bullshit charge took a backseat because some asshole traquilized the fuck out of me so i could wake up 4 days later at monroe mental hospital for a 14 day stay…but wait…i was tranquilized so hard that i didnt even wake up for 4 days but then i found that bitch with a supreme court judge apparently served me papers under duress and went ahead and held court while i was still at a fucking mental hospital….so ooops i didnt show up on that dqte and they won the case and it was then sealed and i never got the chance to stand before my lying ass accuser! and another thing: I want my fucking firearms back that the sheriffs office stolen from me on that date ( i still have their reciepts for taking my weapons)Like i said… as soon as shes in custody and in prison for her crimes….id be more than happy to half assed believe anything political comming from this fucked up state!!

Did you know you can hyperlink a preset email with the \”to\” field, subject line and a body already filled out with most automated email providers? They click the link and it pops right up all filled out. You could then just direct people to change the language if they like and add their name.

I’m a Canadian and it’s unbelievable how that man can try and destroy everyone’s human lives and have no empathy whatsoever for his own countrymen unless there is something for him to gain monetarily. I’m saddened by what my friends and my neighbours to the south have to endure. I believe that under the Mental Health Act, there’s a law that allows the state to impose a seventy two hour period for a patient’s mental health assessment and Trump is not above the medical system in the USA and if he is, then Canada will be more than happy to help you in this situation.
