CANCELLED AND RESCHEDULED: my court hearing against the AG and the Secretary of State for attacking the initiative process is NOT going to be tomorrow Fri @ 9:00 am. When I get new court date, I’ll let everyone now. Here’s why.
Thurs, April 11, 2024
To: Our thousands of supporters throughout the state
(cc’d to the media, house & senate members, and Governor, and other candidates for office)
From: Tim Eyman
Fighting for Taxpayers for 27 years
I was prepping for tomorrow’s court hearing when I saw an email from the court.
It said that I needed to change my lawsuit from a “Motion for writ of mandamus” to a “Motion for Declaratory Judgment.”
So I won’t be in court tomorrow (Friday).
So no one should go there tomorrow, there’s nothing to watch on ZOOM, etc.
When I get a new court date, I’ll let everyone know.
As I wrote in my closing argument:
The Secretary of State’s unilateral increase in the initiative filing fee has demonstrably deterred citizen participation already. Last year on April 10, there were 58 initiatives to the legislature filed with the Secretary of State. This year: only 3 have been filed.
Check out what Ferguson wrote about that:
“Many proponents, including Eyman, have continued to file proposed measures, reflecting that the $156 fee is not a deterrent.”
Many proponents?
3 initiatives filed by 2 people is “many”?
It is beyond maddening that Ferguson is so hell-bent to block Jim Walsh and other citizens from pursuing initiative campaigns because that means even fewer initiatives for voters to vote on.
I will spend the coming days and weeks drafting additional legal briefs to get my challenge rescheduled so we can get the Secretary of State’s and AG’s sneak attack on the initiative process overturned.
Remember, the key to our success has always been:
Is it any wonder why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?
I urge you to help me fight back against the AG’s abuse of power by donating to the Tim Eyman Legal Defense Fund so that Richard Sanders can get this ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.
