Fighting for taxpayers for 28Â years
Talk about a busy week!
On Monday, I asked all of you to email Bob Ferguson — 100’s of you did so — to urge him to veto all tax increases, rent control, and the Democrats’ bill gutting the Parents Rights Initiative (I-2081).

That bill — Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1296 — has 27 sections. Section 501 substantially changes and completely eliminates the parents rights that Initiative 2081 provided.
Sunday, April 27Â was the last day of the legislative session.
Monday, April 28 was the 1st day to file a referendum on any bill passed this session.
BIG THING #1:Â So on Monday, I filed a referendum on Section 501 of ESHB 1296 with the Secretary of State.Â
The Constitution provides the people with the right to referendum any bill, “or any part thereof”. The Constitution guarantees us 90 days from the last day of the session to collect 156,000 signatures to qualify it for a popular vote in November. So July 27 is the deadline.Â
The law requires the Secretary of State to process the referendum by sending it to the Attorney General for a ballot title (only after a ballot title is assigned can petitions be printed and distributed).
But instead of following the law, the Secretary of State sent me a letter notifying me that Steve Hobbs would not be transmitting the referendum to the AG.
BIG THING #2:Â So on Tuesday, I filed a lawsuit directly with the state supreme court telling them to order the Secretary of State to follow the law by forwarding the referendum to the AG. I urge you to read it (click on image below):Â
To speed things up, on Friday I filed an Emergency Motion to have the case heard quickly (you can read that here).
BIG THING #3: State law requires the Secretary of State to forward the referendum to the AG. By violating the law, Steve Hobbs has violated his oath of office.
So on Friday, I trekked to Olympia and filed a Recall Petition to remove Steve Hobbs as Secretary of State.
I went to the Secretary of State’s office to file it:

They stamped it:

And I walked out with it:

I’m doing everything I can to help the voters overturn the gutting of the Parents Rights Initiative.Â
I’ll keep you updated on these important court battles.
I welcome your feedback.
For 28 years, I’ve been fighting for our state and our nation.
I urge you to help me get this ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.

I love you all.
