The House and Senate have shown they have ZERO fiscal restraint.

It’s the worst I’ve ever seen.

The laundry list of proposed tax hikes are lengthy and destructive.

We are in the final days of the session.

So I urge EVERYONE to send an email to Bob Ferguson telling him to oppose ALL tax hikes.

In the body of the email, copy this (or use your own words, tell him how you feel):

Taxpayers got slammed by Jay Inslee 12 years in a row.

He signed off on ALL tax increases every legislative session — 41 tax hikes costing taxpayers an unmerciful $62.3 billion.

Citizens and businesses are taxed enough already.

The House and Senate have shown they have ZERO fiscal restraint.

The only chance we have at fiscal sanity is you.

I like what you said last week:

“At a time of economic uncertainty, raising taxes $12 billion is too risky, unsustainable, and fails Washington state.”

That is absolutely true.

But so is raising taxes $8 billion or $4 billion or $1 billion.

I urge you to oppose ALL tax hikes.

And if this reporting is accurate, I’m glad: 

“Plan to raise cap on property tax growth collapses — Opposition from Gov. Bob Ferguson led Democratic leaders in the House and Senate to abandon the proposal despite strong backing in their caucuses.”

I also like what you said to reporters yesterday: 

“What’s most important for me is to get a balanced budget that preserves a rainy day fund, that relies accurate projections of what our revenue forecast is going to be, that relies on revenue that we think we can defend in court and before the court of public opinion and that preserves core services.”

In these final days of the session, there will be a lot of pressure on you from your own political base of constituents. 

I urge you to resist them.

The large majority of voters firmly believe that the budget shortfall is not because we’re not taxed enough but because for 12 years under Jay Inslee, the Legislature consistently spent way more than they ever expected to come in.

On taxes, show the people of Washington you’re not Jay Inslee.
