For 26 years, I’ve seen the Democrats play these games: letting their friends and staffers and lobbyists and colleagues go first, and allowing them to talk for as long as they want.
And then they immediately turn around and force regular citizens to wait for HOURS and only give them 60 seconds to talk.
Old joke: “If it wasn’t for double-standards, Democrats wouldn’t have any standards at all.”
The reason that’s funny is because it’s true.
They do that double-standard to deter regular citizens from participating.
Sometimes, they even send in security to stop you from talking even when the light is still yellow:
This picture was taken about a decade ago when I was testifying against an income tax bill. In front of me was a stack of emails from regular citizens who wanted their opposition to the bill to be made clear.
We must never let them get away with their games.
Last Friday, there was a hearing on a bunch of bills.
It was supposed to start at 12:30 pm.
But they showed up and started nearly 30 minutes late.
They then voted to exempt themselves from the “5 day rule” which ensures citizens are given plenty of time to familiarize themselves with the legislation.
Then, without any notice to opponents of the bills as to when they’d be called up to testify, we all had to wait 4 hours before they got to the worst of the Democrat bills.

Every session, around 3000 bills are introduced.
To be effective, you have to review the bills that are scheduled for hearings and know the bill well enough to point out its’ fatal flaw (but only if that fatal flaw can be articulated in 60 seconds or less).
That takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and patience.
Instinctively, I’m not a patient person.
But in the snake-pit of politics, I’ve been forced to learn how to be.
But what assures me that it’s worth the effort is recognizing the Herculean effort they go through to deter citizen participation in the process.
And what also makes it worth the effort is the absolute certainty that every day we fight back is another day that Bully Bob Ferguson failed to stop us.
