Let’s all congratulate Jim Walsh, his team, and Washington voters for chalking up a huge victory for our state.

As y’all know, Jim is sponsoring and promoting 6 statewide initiatives and for many months he and his team have been working hard to get them qualified.

Well, the fruits of that labor are ripening.

Because Jim Walsh and Washington voters have scored a huge victory.

Tomorrow from 1-1:30pm, he’ll be turning in thousands of petitions filled with signatures for his initiative that STOPS THE HIDDEN GAS TAX. That’s Jim’s initiative repealing Inslee’s Cap-and-Tax Scheme.

You know that one: it’s the spectacularly costly program WHICH INSLEE LIED TO PASS — “This is going to have a minimal impact, if any. Pennies. We are talking about pennies” Inslee said.

Look at the skyrocketing cost to fill up your gas tank, cost to pay your utility bills, and cost to buy ANYTHING at the store and it’s all PROOF POSITIVE Inslee lied.

Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat acknowledges Inslee didn’t tell the truth but Danny is AOK with that because if Inslee had told the truth, the bill wouldn’t have passed.

UGGGGGGGHHHHH!

But now voters know the truth.

And now that they know the truth — that it’s gawd-awful costly and provides no benefit — do voters want it?

I believe the answer is no.

Reinforcing my belief is the fact that the voters have TWICE rejected new carbon taxes at the ballot box.

With his initiative, Jim wants to give the voters their 3rd opportunity to reject them.

Realize too that if not for Bob Ferguson, we would already know how voters feel about Inslee’s Cap-and-Tax Scheme. Ferguson bent-over-backwards to prevent the voters from voting on it last year:

Jim needs to turn in 325,000 valid voter signatures to qualify — the Secretary of State recommends 405,000 (extras are needed to offset invalid signatures — illegible handwriting, non-voters signing, folks inadvertently signing more than once, etc).

In past years when we were doing our initiative signature drives, we’d do an initial turn in as soon as we reached the minimum number, but we’d always highlight that we needed more.

Here’s an example from 2001 when we were pushing our initiative to limit the growth of property taxes (the 1% cap was overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2001 and passed by the Legislature in 2007 — it’s still the law today 22 years later):

Inspired by hitting this milestone, our supporters collected many more signatures in the following weeks and the initiative qualified.

In 1999, we did the same thing with our first $30 Tabs Initiative:

Inspired by clearing this hurdle, our supporters kicked into high gear and in the remaining weeks collected A LOT more and the initiative qualified.

Initial turn-ins are always a victory because such milestones super-energize supporters because they alert everyone that it’s close.

“We’re within striking distance, but we’re not quite there.”

By making this appointment with the Secretary of State, Jim has clearly hit the minimum for his initiative repealing Inslee’s dishonest Cap-and-Tax Scheme.

So we can expect a little over 325K to be turned in tomorrow.

That means from now until Dec 29th, he and his team AND ALL OF US need to collect more.

But in addition to that, they’re working super hard to qualify his other 5 statewide initiatives (one repeals Inslee’s income tax, another prohibits income taxes as that term in defined by the IRS, another allows workers to opt out of paying a huge payroll tax, another allows the police to pursue criminals, and another requires parents to be notified about their kids’ health while they’re at school).

To get petitions for Jim’s 6 initiatives, click here and they’ll get mailed out to you.

I’m doing everything I can to help promote Jim’s common sense initiatives.

So that in November 2024, we can let the voters decide.

Is it any wonder the AG is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

Every day you help me fight back is another day Ferguson failed to stop us.

Richard Sanders is committed to getting the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.

We need to make sure what Bob Ferguson has been doing to me and my family never happens to anyone else ever again.
