Fighting for Taxpayers for 27 years
Whether saint or winner, innocent or guilty, the process is the punishment.
Wrongly arrested Bruce Guthrie is going through that right now.
He’s the volunteer signature gatherer for Initiative 2066 who was arrested, handcuffed, strip searched, and jailed for collecting signatures at a public park.
He didn’t do anything wrong – not a thing.
But now he’s forced to “lawyer up” to fight these bogus criminal charges.
He’s shopping for an attorney and the rate he’s been quoted is $5000.
$5000.
That’s money that he’s out whether he wins or loses.
Why should he be forced to pay $5000 for the government blatantly violating his rights?
He shouldn’t.
Help me get this whole thing dropped.
I’m asking everyone to send an email to the city of Edmonds’ mayor and city council and tell them to tell their contract city prosecutor to drop this.
To handle prosecutions, they’ve hired a for-profit law firm based in Tukwila.
It’s called “The Walls Law Firm” and Renee Walls handles Edmonds.
Her email address is included.
And I’m including Edmonds’ Chief of Police because she’s responsible for her officers not being properly trained and for wrongly arresting Bruce.
To send all of them an email, I’ve made it really easy:
In the To line, copy and paste this:
mike.rosen@edmondswa.gov; vivian.olson@edmondswa.gov; chris.eck@edmondswa.gov; will.chen@edmondswa.gov; neil.tibbott@edmondswa.gov; michelle.dotsch@edmondswa.gov; susan.paine@edmondswa.gov; jenna.nand@edmondswa.gov; michelle.bennett@edmondswa.gov; renee@thewallslawfirm.com; timdeyman@gmail.com
In the Subject line, copy and paste this:
DROP IT! Don’t prosecute Bruce Guthrie for collecting signatures in a public park in Edmonds
In the body of the email, copy and paste this (feel free to write anything you want):
DROP IT! Don’t prosecute Bruce Guthrie for collecting signatures in a public park in Edmonds. It was his constitutional right. He shouldn’t be forced to pay $5000 for an attorney when he didn’t do anything wrong. Edmonds police should not have arrested, handcuffed, strip searched, and jailed him for collecting signatures in a public park. Drop this NOW!
Mayor Rosen, tell your city’s prosecutor — contract lawyer Renee Wells — to not prosecute Bruce Guthrie. Don’t waste taxpayer money paying her for-profit law firm to go after this innocent citizen.
City council members, tell your city’s prosecutor — contract lawyer Renee Wells — to not prosecute Bruce Guthrie. Don’t waste taxpayer money paying her for-profit law firm to go after this innocent citizen.
Edmonds Chief of Police Michelle Bennett — tell your officers to publicly and personally apologize to Bruce Guthrie for violating his civil rights. Train your officers better.
Renee Wells, I urge you to contact Bruce Guthrie immediately (spdsk8@aol.com) — before he’s forced to hire an attorney — and tell him that you will not prosecute him for collecting signatures at a public park. The Arts’ Festival signed a contract that guaranteed free speech activity would not be infringed. DROP THIS IMMEDIATELY! Bruce Guthrie should not be financially penalized when it was the Edmonds police that wrongly arrested him.
All of you – don’t waste a single dollar of taxpayer money prosecuting Bruce Guthrie and don’t force Bruce Guthrie to spend $5000 for an attorney when the city is clearly in the wrong.
— END —
When it comes to politicians and the government, they only see the light when they feel the heat.
Send your email RIGHT AWAY!
I can relate to what Bruce is going through.
Over the past 12 years, I’ve been forced to spend $1.9 million so far for my lawyers and other costs to defend myself against the AG’s 12 years of investigation, litigation, and persecution.
And even when I “win” after all the appeals, I will be forever “out” that money.
So I have enormous empathy for Bruce Guthrie.
Let’s all help him.
Is it any wonder why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?
He’s wasted more taxpayer money going after me than all other cases in the last 12 years COMBINED!
I urge you to help me fight back against the AG’s abuse of power by donating to the Tim Eyman Legal Defense Fund so we can get this ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.
