I’ll be testifying on this bill tomorrow.

Please help back me up by sending emails to all 147 legislators telling them to STOP this horrible bill (Senate Bill 5284).

I just found out about tomorrow’s hearing (Tues, 1:30pm, January 24) on this horrible bill.

So there IS STILL ENOUGH time for EVERYONE to help me on this.

First thing: send 2 separate emails: one to Senate and one to the House.

Copy and paste this into the Subject line:
Senate Bill 5284 RADICALLY increases the workload for campaign treasurers, forcing all campaigns, including small ones, to hire an extremely expensive professional treasurer to handle the huge increase in workload required by this bill. Small campaigns can’t afford such a RADICAL cost increase. I urge you to MODIFY this bill and REMOVE the massive increase in workload for campaign treasurers so that volunteer treasurers are still possible.

STEP 4: Under committee, click on it and go to the bottom and mark “State Government & Elections”

STEP 5: Under Meetings, select: 01/24/23, 1:30pm

STEP 6: Click on the dot to the left of “SB 5284 Campaign Finance Disclosure”

STEP 7: Click on the bottom one: I would like to submit written testimony

STEP 8: Provide the requested information on the form.

STEP 9: Copy and paste into the “Written Testimony” area the text of your email message (see above)

This is really important. I’m very grateful to everyone who helps me with this. We want to allow small campaigns (candidates running in local races, local initiatives or referendums, small campaigns on all sorts of local issues). But this bill’s extra workload will kill off all of them.

Please send 2 emails and submit your written testimony (if you want to, you can testify instead — it’s one of the options in STEP 2).
