Without any public notice on the Legislature’s website, there was a “public” hearing on Senate Bill 5618 on Valentine’s Day.

But we, the people, couldn’t testify against it because they hid it on their website.

Why?

Because the Democrats KNEW that we, the people, would go absolutely ballistic and show up in droves to fight it.

TRIPLING PROPERTY TAX INCREASES?

Find me a property owner who believes their increases haven’t been big enough EVEN WITH THE 1% PROPERTY TAX CAP (it became the law in 2002 and was reenacted by the Legislature in 2007)?

So only governments that would get the higher PROPERTY TAXES were notified about the hearing and were there to testify for it.

Now it’s too late for the citizens to weigh in.

But here’s your/our chance to tell all 147 legislators “No way to TRIPLING PROPERTY TAX INCREASES with Senate Bill 5618.”

I implore you to send emails to all 147 legislators RIGHT NOW.

Please send 2 separate emails: one to the Senate and one to the House.

TRIPLING PROPERTY TAX INCREASES? Are you nuts? I am adamantly opposed to Senate Bill 5618 because it takes away the 1% property tax cap (passed by 58% of voters in 2001 and reenacted and passed by 89% of legislators in 2007 and signed into law by Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire).

TRIPLING PROPERTY TAX INCREASES? Are you nuts? I am adamantly opposed to Senate Bill 5618 because it ignores the will of the people and the collective wisdom of the 2007 Legislature (and Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire).

The 1% property tax cap was passed by 58% of voters in 2001:

I urge all legislators to join us in stopping TRIPLING property tax increases by opposing SB 5618. The people of Washington cannot withstand the government’s insatiable tax appetite.

Besides, in the past 10 years, the Legislature has raised taxes 41 times costing taxpayers over $62.3 billion.

How can you possibly think we can afford any more?

And we’ve not forgotten that we NEVER received the $30 Tabs we voted for 3 times.

Instead, you insulted us by claiming ‘we were confused.’ That only makes us even more opposed to any tax or fee increases this session.

We’re taxed enough already.

The taxpayers of Washington oppose the government’s insatiable tax appetite.
