Here’s my report on an inspiring David versus Goliath battle over property taxes. The good guys crushed the bad guys.

This is really inspiring.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a voicemail message from a very nice woman from Gig Harbor.

She was scheduled to debate the proponents of a huge property tax increase that evening and wanted some advice.

We connected by phone late in the afternoon and the more I heard about it, the angrier I got.

I offered to drive down there right away and join in as a “surprise participant” and she graciously accepted.

The whole thing was totally rigged. The proponents used taxpayer-funded city employees to promote their tax increase (which is totally illegal).

I slammed it as hard and as often as I could.

As I was driving home, she sent me this:

“Tim, a sincere thank you for making the long drive to GH and coming at the last minute to this all-important community forum. Your statements had a huge impact and made people sit up, take notice, and think about this in a different light, especially after being infused with the city’s one-sided commentary. You have a gift for making your points quickly and understandably. Thx again for answering my call, helping craft my presentation, and showing up for this small town issue. You are appreciated!!!”

That was obviously great to hear.

But what was even better was the election results — Gig Harbor voters overwhelmingly rejected this massive property tax increase.

City politicians forced local taxpayers to pay for a special election in April to try to lower voter turn-out.

Oops, didn’t work.

Voter participation — especially for a special election — was HUGE (44%).

After the vote, this was published:

This was a true David versus Goliath battle.

And despite the city’s illegal actions and manipulation, the good guys crushed the bad guys.

It is a total joy for me to have played a small role in this victory.

Why?

Because I know it makes Bob Ferguson’s head explode.

Every day I’m politically active is another day Bob Ferguson failed.
