Democrats did everything they could to muzzle us.

With a 2 hour limit for the hearing, they made sure to schedule 6 different bills and they put the “biggie”, the Initiative Killer bill, last so there was as little time as possible for anyone to testify.

They knew 10,520 heroes signed in CON and only 1100 signed in PRO.

So they manipulated the testimony so all the proponents were allowed to talk, but they blocked many of our people — the opponents — from speaking.

I was one of them.

With just 5 minutes left in the hearing, I stood up … 

… and asked: “Mr. Chair, I signed up to testify, I was hoping to …”

BANG!

He freaked out, hammered the gavel, and exclaimed “NO OUTBURSTS!”

Fortunately for us, there was no way they could block all of us.

Especially former Secretary of State Sam Reed and Steve Hobbs who teamed up against it.

When Sam Reed called it the “Voter Suppression bill,” that really infuriated the Democrats. 

And what’s not to love about Steve Hobbs saying: “I can’t support this, it just adds another layer of burden, I think we have a system that works.”

Fantastic!

Now we gotta do it again today.

Sam Reed and Steve Hobbs and Brian Heywood (and me and others) will be at today’s hearing (Wed, Jan 21) at 1:30pm to testify against 2 anti-initiative bills.

They’re also taking testimony on the same anti-initiative bill they pushed last year (HB 2260) – invalidates perfectly valid voter signatures on petitions.
