With so much awfulness going on (floods, bombings, income tax talk, businesses leaving WA), it sure is awesome to finally get some good news for a change.
Initiative superstar Brian Heywood and his team Let’s Go Washington are in the homestretch to qualify his 2 common sense initiatives for a public vote.
To make it, they need to turn in 308,911 valid voter signatures.
Last week they announced this:
1) Reversing the Democrats’ gutting of the Parents Rights Initiative so the law goes back to exactly what it was originally,
Total signatures in hand and processed: 289,570
2) Preventing men from competing in girls’ sports
Total signatures in hand and processed: 315,970
Again, they need 308,911 but that’s the number of VALID signatures.
There’s always a bunch of INVALID sigs (most common reason is the Secretary of State can’t read the handwriting, 2nd is they’re not a registered voter). Â
So Brian and his team are working super hard to get a big “cushion” of extra signatures to offset the ones that won’t count.
And they only have 19 days left to get that cushion.

Always remember, EVERY SIGNATURE COUNTS so even if your petition sheet only has 1 or 2 signatures on it, make sure to mail it in.
