At the last minute, the Democrats have added a vote on Senate Bill 5770 which eliminates our 1% property tax cap.

60% of voters approved it.

90% of legislators reenacted it.

94% of citizens signed in opposed to Senate Bill 5770.

Politicians will only see the light when they feel the heat.

Vote NO on SB 5770 this session, especially on Mon, Feb 5.

In January, during the Senate Ways & Means committee hearing, 7526 citizens signed in opposing SB 5770 — that’s 94%! Our message to legislators is crystal clear: Don’t Take Away the 1% Property Tax Cap. Reject this attack on seniors and working families. Even with the cap, property taxes are still a huge burden. Taking this protection away will make property taxes skyrocket making housing even more unaffordable to homeowners and renters. And this law has always included a safety valve: if governments want a bigger increase, they simply have to get the voters’ permission. The people overwhelmingly passed this and Gov. Gregoire & legislators overwhelmingly passed it too. For 22 years, taxpayers have counted on this protection. Don’t take it away. Vote NO on SB 5770 and any bills like it.
