If Olympia hadn’t unilaterally imposed tax increases EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS, there wouldn’t have been any Tax Advisory Votes.
But because they did, the people got to learn which taxes were increased, how much each tax increase will cost us, how legislators voted on each one, and yes, we got to express our opinion on each tax increase with a non-binding advisory vote.
Democrats say voters can’t understand that a Tax Advisory Vote is advisory.
Gimmee a break. It’s in the name.
Democrats say that voters don’t want this policy anymore but they clearly don’t believe that because they refused to accept GOP Rep. Sam Lowe’s amendment to put a referendum clause on the bill to let the voters make that decision.
They’re not saying it out loud, but here’s what Democrats are actually saying “Why should we let the people express their opinions if we don’t care what their opinions are and will never do what the voters want anyway (repeal the tax increase if the voters say repeal the tax increase)?”
Yup. That’s what this is all about.
The Democrats in the state senate have already voted to pass this bill.
This week, the Democrats in committee passed it (all the GOP members rejected it).
So now there will be a vote in the House on whether or not to take away the People’s Right to Vote on Tax Increases (a right that we mandated in 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2015 with 4 of our initiatives).
So all 98 House members need to hear from you/us.
All 98 are voting on it so you/we have every right to tell all of them how you feel about this.
I urge you to send an email … RIGHT NOW … that tells them to reject SB 5082.
Copy & paste this into the Subject line:
“Don’t take away the People’s Right to Vote on Tax Increases. Don’t hide your tax votes. Don’t keep the costs of your tax increases a secret. I urge you to oppose SB 5082 and respect our 4 votes for Tax Advisory Votes.”
Copy & paste this (or something like this) into the body of the email (tell ’em how you feel):
“Don’t take away the people’s Right to Vote on Tax Increases. Don’t hide your tax votes. Don’t keep the costs of your tax increases a secret. I urge you to oppose SB 5082 and respect our 4 votes for Tax Advisory Votes.”

Since 2007, the Democrats have wanted to take away the People’s Right to Vote On Tax Increases.
For 16 years, we’ve beaten them back because their stated reasons are so stupid and illogical.
Nothing has changed except this:
This is, by far, the wackiest, most socialistic, most fascist, most arrogant group of Democrats ever elected to the Legislature.
Exposing the Democrats’ insatiable tax appetite, letting the voters decide, and saving the taxpayers over $54 billion.
That’s why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity.
Last August, when the AG took my house and drained all my bank accounts (I was allowed to keep $1500), things for me and my family shifted from REALLY WANTING help to DESPERATELY NEEDING help.
