PRAISE IN PUBLIC, CRITICIZE IN PRIVATE. Don’t attack initiatives sponsors like Jim Walsh, Brian Heywood, Greg Lane, Larry Jensen, and others. If you support their initiative, help ’em. If you don’t, cut ’em some slack — at least they’re trying.

I can relate.

Right now, Jim Walsh is sponsoring and promoting and collecting signatures for an initiative that ensures that only US citizens vote.

HERO!

Brian Heywood sponsored and promoted and collected signatures for 6 initiatives — all of them qualified, some passed, some didn’t.

HERO!

Greg Lane w/ the Building Industry Association of WA sponsored and promoted and collected signatures for the Natural Gas Initiative. It qualified and passed and the state supreme court just agreed to accept direct appeal.

HERO!

Larry Jensen sponsored promoted and collected signatures for a pro-2nd Amendment Initiative 2 years ago — he worked his butt off but unfortunately, it didn’t qualify.

HERO!

When you sponsor and promote a conservative initiative in WA state, it’s a Herculean task to qualify for the ballot. You have to collect 100’s of 1000’s of voter signatures in a very short period of time. And you and your initiative are under constant assault by the Democrats and the media.

Frankly, that’s the easy part.

The hard part is having to deal with the umpteen arm-chair quarterbacks on “our side” who’ve NEVER sponsored, promoted, and qualified an initiative EVER who publicly attack the sponsor and undercut the initiative’s signature drive. These “experts” drone on and on about all the things the sponsor should have done, should be doing, and that, if THEY were the sponsor, how their initiative would’ve succeeded (made it on the ballot, been approved by voters, survived the courts).

Gimmee a break.

Folks like Jim Walsh, Brian Heywood, Greg Lane, and Larry Jensen put their name and reputation behind a conservative initiative proposal.

Cut ’em some slack.

If you support their initiative, help ’em out.

If don’t support their initiative, send ’em a private email, leave ’em a private voicemail, or have a private conversation w/ ’em.

But don’t undercut ’em and their efforts by PUBLICLY ATTACKING IT OR THEM — that is a real betrayal.

As someone who has faced more than my fair share of Monday morning quarterbacking, I know what they’re going through.

But after 28 years of initiative activism and earning a doctorate at the School of Hard Knocks, I’ve got a dinosaur skin.

These “new guys” probably don’t.

So cut ’em some slack because they’re putting themselves on the line and they’re trying.

And by doing so, they’re doing a heck-uv-a-lot-more than any critic.

As always, I welcome your feedback.

Is it any wonder Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

I urge you to help me survive this political persecution by donating to the Tim Eyman Legal Defense Fund so we can get the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.

The only reason I’m still here and I’m still fighting is because of the prayers, love, and support of wonderful friends like you who’ve seen this gross injustice and abuse of power and are willing to help.

I love you all.
