Steve Hobbs is blocking my referendum.  

It’s inexcusable.

My referendum gives the people the chance to “voter veto” the Democrats’ gutting of the Parents Rights Initiative.

This morning, the AG served a Summons on Steve Hobbs and filed my Recall Petition with the Court.

In it, the AG included what’s called the Ballot Synopsis. It reads:

Because the law requires a Recall Petition to be heard within 15 days of the politician getting served a Summons, we will be presenting oral argument in Thurston County Superior Court on Friday, June 6. 

I filed this Recall Petition against Steve Hobbs because he took an oath to perform the duties of Secretary of State, abide by the Constitution, and follow the law.

I filed a referendum with the Secretary of State which gives the people the chance to “voter veto” the gutting of the Parents Rights Initiative by the Democrats with ESHB 1296. 

But Steve Hobbs refused to process it.

As I wrote in my Recall Petition:

Longstanding state law explicitly and without exception sets a cognizable legal standard that requires the Secretary of State to perform this duty imposed by law:

“The secretary of state shall give a serial number to each initiative, referendum bill, or referendum measure, … and forthwith transmit one copy of the measure proposed bearing its serial number to the attorney general.” 

Steve Hobbs did not follow that law. 

By refusing to follow that law, Steve Hobbs violated his oath of office, thus making him subject to a completely justified Recall Petition. 

By failing to abide by the law, Steve Hobbs has severely violated the people’s constitutionally guaranteed right to referendum.

The Constitution guarantees the people 90 days for a referendum.

His refusal to process my referendum has robbed the people of 40 of those 90 days (by the time this Recall Petition is heard). 

As summarized on page 14 of my Recall Petition:

Each and every day that Steve Hobbs does not transmit a copy of Referendum 108 to the Attorney General for a ballot title is wrongful conduct that affects, interrupts, or interferes with the performance of his official duty.

Each and every day that goes by is a separate act of misfeasance by Steve Hobbs because it violates the people’s constitutional right to referendum.

Steve Hobbs is violating his statutory and constitutional duties by preventing Petitioner’s referendum petition to circulate.

For these reasons, the recall of Steve Hobbs from the Office of Secretary of State is justified.

I’m doing everything I can to restore the Parents Rights Initiative and to protect the initiative and referendum process.

Because of your support, I am appealing the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional ruling because it’s so absurd:

* Lifetime ban on all future political activity?
* $8 million?
* Prohibiting me from earning money for the rest of my life?
* I’m no longer a person, I’m forever designated a ‘continuing political committee’?
