RENT CONTROL? It’s beyond stupid. Help me stop the Democrats’ idiotic rent control bill. Watch my brief testimony and then email all 147 legislators. Together, let’s stop their stupidity.

Democrats created the housing crisis by stopping builders from building.
And we’ve all seen the result: skyrocketing housing costs (for buyers AND renters).
But the Democrats believe they can suspend the laws of basic economics.
They think they can wave the magic wand of rent control and solve it:
NEWS FLASH TO DEMOCRATS: The laws of supply and demand also apply to housing.
It’s beyond stupid. It’s insane, idiotic, dumb.
But the Democrat majority is nonetheless pushing bills like HB 2114 which they call “rent stabilization”.
That’s just different colored lipstick on the same rent control pig.
Last week, I testified against a different rent control bill (click on the image to watch it):
If that doesn’t work, click here to watch it.
After watching that, I’m urging EVERYONE to send emails to all 147 legislators — I’ve made it really easy:
1st email, send it to SENATORS: Copy and paste this into the “To:” line:
andy.billig@leg.wa.gov; matt.
Copy & paste this into the Subject line:
I totally oppose all the Democrats’ idiotic rent control bills, including HB 2114. You’re trying to rebrand “rent control” as “rent stabilization” — there’s no difference. Your rent control bills will only make the housing crisis that you created even worse. Stop the stupidity.
Copy & paste this (or something like this) into the body of the email (tell ’em how you feel):

Rent control? It’s never worked and it never will. Why? Because the government can’t suspend the laws of economics / supply-and-demand when it comes to housing.
Besides, these properties don’t belong to the government — they belong to private citizens. Property owners own their property. And they enter into voluntary agreements with others. And if a renter doesn’t like the rent, they’re free to move. The Legislature has no right to interfere with these voluntary agreements because it’s not your property. The government shouldn’t be able to give it away for free (like Inslee did for 3 years) and the government shouldn’t tell property owners how much to charge. You’re not telling Amazon or WalMart or Microsoft to give away their products. You’re not telling them how much to charge – you’re only doing that to property owners. Stop the favoritism. Oppose HB 2114.
Do same thing for the House — copy & paste these into the “To” line:
peter.abbarno@leg.wa.gov; emil
