Mon, May 22nd, 2023 To: Our thousands of supporters throughout the state (cc’d to the media, house & senate members, and Governor, and other candidates for office)
From: Tim Eyman Fighting for Taxpayers for 26 years.
I was there to talk about the process.
So right off the bat, I talked about our Initiative 695 that we did in 1999:
I reported to everyone these facts:
* Back then, we raised $75,000 for the signature drive but only spent $50,000.
* Back then, we had 5 months to collect the needed signatures.
* And over those 5 months, we collected and turned in 514,000.
Half of that 514,000 were collected by just 180 extraordinary people who took it upon themselves to work their butts off to donate and collect signatures (after the signature drive, I sent all of them a 695 “kamikaze” tshirt — it was pretty cool).
So on a shoestring budget, without websites, without emails, without social media, we collected and turned in the 2nd highest number of voter signatures in Washington state history.
When it comes to Larry Jensen’s pro-2nd Amendment Initiative (complete text here), the deadline is December 30, 2023.
So there’s 7 months to collect the needed signatures (not 5 months like in 1999).
400,000 signatures are needed for Larry’s initiative (not 514,000).
I emphasized this point over and over again: THIS CAN BE DONE BECAUSE IT’S BEEN DONE BEFORE.
To succeed, it takes 2 things: money and manpower.
So first of all, if you want to financially support the initiative, there are 2 options:
1) Donate by check (make check payable to: “Law-Abiding Citizens PAC” and mail it to: Law Abiding Citizens PAC, PO Box 363, Clinton, WA, 98236 — make sure in the memo line of your check that you write in your occupation, employer, and employer zip code – if retired, write RETIRED).
The all-important ballot title tells you exactly what the initiative does:
The flyer for the launch outlines exactly what the initiative does:
The 2nd thing that’s needed to succeed is manpower.
Committed citizens who are willing to work their butts off collecting signatures.
I asked everyone at yesterday’s launch to walk out of there with 2 petitions: one to start collecting signatures on right away and the other to make copies of (must be double-sided and printed on 11″x17″ paper).
The campaign is raising money right now to mail out petitions to hundreds of thousands of pro-2A supporters in Washington state.
Until then, the campaign is urging everyone to download the PDF of the petition (tinyurl.com/2078Petition), save it on a thumb drive, and take it to a local copy store (Staples, Minuteman Press, Office Depot, FEDEX Kinkos, Sir Speedy) and make as many copies as you want.
Larry Jensen, the sponsor of Initiative 2078, was there and he was given a standing ovation from everyone there.
Way to go, Larry.
The rest is up to you.
If you are sick and tired of legislative assaults on your right to protect yourself and your loved ones, Larry’s initiative is the most effective way to fight back.
Is it any wonder Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?
I ask / urge / beg of you to donate to my legal defense fund.
Last August, when the AG took my home and drained all my bank accounts (I was allowed to keep $1500), things shifted from REALLY WANTING help to DESPERATELY NEEDING help.
I urge you to help me survive this political persecution by donating to my legal defense fund.
Please support this effort so I can continue to do what I was born to do.
With your help, I will keep fighting for the people across our nation with initiatives, lawsuits, lobbying, and helping elect more freedom-loving elected officials.
I love you all.
Onward!
