On the Washington state voter rolls which are available and accessible to any citizen, I learned another way for the citizens to communicate with Attorney General Nick Brown (he’s on the left).

I just sent him the following text message to his cell phone (after you read it, I ask you to do the same):

5) please reverse your decision to censor citizens at public meetings of your Domestic Extremism Task Force in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act.

Citizens provided verbal comments at your November meeting and at your January meeting but were prohibited from doing so at your March meeting.

In the Charter for the November meeting (and in its Agenda) and in the Charter for the January meeting (and in its Agenda) it specifically said the AG “welcomes both written and verbal comments” from regular citizens.

You stopped “welcoming” regular citizens after almost all of them voiced strong opposition and dissent at those 2 meetings. And during public comment at the November and January meetings, citizens who were critical of the Task Force and its Agenda were consistently interrupted and insulted by the AG’s staff.

No other government – not the legislature, no county council, no city council, no school board, not even Sound Transit — ever does that.

You are going to continue hearing from A LARGE NUMBER of citizens until you apologize for and reverse your decision to censor citizens.

The sooner you do so the sooner citizens will stop contacting you, your leadership team, Bob Ferguson, his leadership team, and the 27 members of your Task Force.
