I am Washington resident and longtime voter from (your city, county).

When you ran for Governor in 2012, you repeatedly promised you’d veto any tax increase. Some voters took you at your word and voted for you based on that.

You broke that promise repeatedly since that election.

Since 2012, taxes have been raised 41 times costing taxpayers over $62.3 billion.

As you can see, not a single legislative session has gone by where you haven’t raised taxes.

Taxpayers paid you $1,401,289 to be Governor from 2013-2020 (even during the 5 months you squandered millions of tax dollars running for President).

And taxpayers are paying you another $750,000 to be Governor from 2021-2024.

That’s over $2.15 million dollars we’ve paid to you.

The absolute least you can do for the people is to veto Senate Bill 5082 and not take away the People’s Right to Vote on Tax Increases.

These were all tax increases unilaterally imposed by the legislature, declared an emergency, and blocked from a citizen referendum.

But thanks to 4 voter-approved initiatives requiring it, the voters were informed which taxes were raised, how much they’ll cost the taxpayers, how legislators voted on each one, and every voter was given the opportunity to express their opinion on the increase with a Tax Advisory Vote. SB 5082 was a Democrat bill in the Senate and a Democrat bill in the House. All the Democrats voted yes, all the Republicans voted no. This partisan bill robs the voters of a right that they demanded in 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2015 when they overwhelmingly passed initiatives requiring them. I urge you to do this one thing: veto SB 5082 and let the people — the peasants — have a few crumbs off the King’s table. Do not take away the People’s Right To Vote on Tax Increases.
