On Tuesday in the Senate Ways & Means committee, an all-Democrat vote for Senate Bill 5770 advanced the bill to the senate floor.

Wasting no time, the Democrats are now forcing a vote TODAY on the senate floor.

Democrats CLAIM they care about housing affordability — BUT TRIPLING PROPERTY TAXES GOES IN EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

It will only make buying a home, affording to keep a home, or renting ASTRONOMICALLY more expensive.

I urge everyone to email all 147 legislators. I make it really easy.

Don’t hurt us – REJECT SB 5770. 94% of citizens who signed in this year expressed their strong support for keeping the 1% cap and opposed SB 5770 — Don’t Take Away this critical protection for seniors and working families. 60% of voters passed the 1% property tax cap because state and local government politicians have repeatedly illustrated their insatiable tax appetite. 90% of legislators and Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire reenacted the 1% property tax cap because of the safety valve that allows higher increases if voters approve. 

Vote NO on SB 5770 this session, especially on Thurs, Feb 8.

In January, during the Senate Ways & Means committee hearing, 7526 citizens signed in opposing SB 5770 — that’s 94%! Our message to legislators is crystal clear: Don’t Take Away the 1% Property Tax Cap. Reject this attack on seniors and working families. Even with the cap, property taxes are still a huge burden. Taking this protection away will make property taxes skyrocket making housing even more unaffordable to homeowners and renters. And this law has always included a safety valve: if governments want a bigger increase, they simply have to get the voters’ permission. The people overwhelmingly passed this and Gov. Gregoire & legislators overwhelmingly passed it too. For 22 years, taxpayers have counted on this protection. Don’t take it away. Vote NO on SB 5770 and any bills like it.
