Thanks to all of you, for weeks we’ve been bombarding the 5 members of the Snohomish County Council with emails.

It had a big impact.

At the first hearing, we generated a huge turnout and lots of oppositional testimony.

Our message:

“VOTE NO ON THE 8% PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.” 

Yesterday was the final hearing before they voted.

We again succeeded at generating a huge turnout.

The meeting started with citizen testimony.

The first vote by the Council was on the 8% property tax increase.

3 voted no, 2 voted yes.

So the 8% was defeated — a huge victory. 

The next vote was on a 0% increase.

3 voted no, 2 voted yes.

So that didn’t pass either.

The final proposal was on 2% per year.

Just before the vote was taken, this Democrat said:

“If this (2%) doesn’t pass, I’ll be voting for 0%.” 

Right after he said it, the faces of the other 2 Democrats turned gloomy and crestfallen.

At that point, they threw in the towel.

The final vote was 3 yes, 2 no.

Obviously we wanted no increases or 1% increases.

But with Democrats in control, it’s a remarkable victory to defeat the 8% and have the increases be 2% per year instead. 

As for spending cuts, the amendment eliminating several unnecessary government jobs ended up passing (3 yes, 2 no).

I’m so proud of you for making all of this possible.

By amplifying our voices with emails and testimony, we continue to score significant victories for the citizens of Washington. 

Is it any wonder why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

With the expert legal assistance of Richard Sanders, I am appealing the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional ruling because it’s so absurd:

* Lifetime ban on all future political activity?
* I’m no longer a person, I’m forever designated a ‘continuing political committee’?
* $5.5 million?
* Prohibiting me from earning money for the rest of my life?
