Officially the 1st day of the legislative session is this Monday.

But for those “in the know” the opening day is the Friday before.

That’s when legislative leaders and the governor have a press conference where EVERYONE in the media shows up.

It’s called the pre-election preview.

The public isn’t invited but since it’s a public building, anyone can attend (if they know about it).

I’ve been going for years.

As always, I sat in the front row:

My message to legislators and the governor wasn’t subtle:

I sat through numerous presentations and whenever they invited questions, every press person’s hand went up:

This went on for hours.

Then it was Ferguson’s turn.

I was this close:

He took questions from 11:30am til noon.

At exactly 11:58am, he said he only had time for one more question and invited someone to ask who hadn’t been called on before.

I gave it a try.

I shot my hand high in the air.

And to my surprise (because I wasn’t a member of the media), he called on me.

A lot of questions had already been asked about his proposed income tax, so I decided to focus on 2 horrible anti-initiative bills that we’ll be facing this session.

I posted this on Facebook just as it started:

This is going to be an especially challenging legislative session.

They’re gonna hit us with lots of bad bills.

What’s the most important thing we can do to fight back?
