Fighting for taxpayers for 29 years

Senate Democrat leader Jamie Pedersen and his fellow Democrat senators filed their long-awaited state income tax bill yesterday.

But they’re hiding it from the public and the press.

When you go to the Legislature’s website and type in their bill number (6346), you see this:

And when you click on “For a complete list of documents, go to Detailed Legislative Reports Text of a legislative document”, you see this:

This is totally unprecedented.

Whenever a bill gets filed (“dropped”), it is always immediately uploaded onto the Legislature’s website for bills.

But that’s not happening with the Democrats’ Secret Income Tax bill because they’re desperately trying to keep it hidden from the public and the press for as long as possible.

In fact, it’s already been announced they’re going to have a hearing on the bill later this week and they don’t want the bill’s text to be seen until after they have their hearing. 

They’re even having a “press availability” event today (Tues, Feb 3) in Olympia and they’re hiding the bill’s text from the media too.

Fortunately, one of the Democrat sponsors doesn’t agree with the Democrat’s strategy to keep their state income tax bill hidden from the public and emailed me a copy of the bill last night (I’ve got a mole).

It’s a monster — 62 pages.

But what I found most infuriating was what they did to Initiative 2111 which explicitly prohibits an income tax just like this one.

448,158 voters supported Initiative 2111 by signing petitions and it easily qualified for a public vote but instead of letting the voters decide, the Democrat-dominated legislature overwhelmingly passed it into law on March 4, 2024 (House 76 Yeas & 21 Nays, Senate 38 Yeas & 11 Nays).

It’s so easy to imagine them saying to themselves: 

“Oh, ya, sure we did that, but that was just for show, now we’re doing what we planned all along.”

Beyond despicable.

But Democrats have always been absolutely shameless when it comes to raising taxes (Ferguson’s tax increases cost taxpayers $40.2 billion, radically more costly than Inslee).

But this goes beyond anything they’ve ever done before.

Talk about a bunch of dirty dogs!

As soon as I find out more, I’ll let everyone know.
