Brian Heywood and his team Let’s Go Washington did a phenomenal job with the signature drive for the No Income Tax Initiative (IP26-645).

They only had 51 days.

The number of VALID signatures they needed to turn in was:

308,911

To account for illegible handwriting, non-voters, and folks inadvertently signing more than once, the Sec of State recommended they turn in:

390,000

The Secretary of State went line-by-line with the 33,244 petition sheets and determined that the number of signatures turned in was:

509,365

Over the past century, the Secretary of State has developed a proven formula that shows that checking 3% of sigs (randomly chosen) is representative of the whole thing.

Stuart Holmes, the Secretary of State’s Director of Elections, sent me an email yesterday that confirmed the official validity rate was 84.65%:

So how does 15.35% compare to other recent signature drives?

Really well.

They ran a clean ship and blew the roof off (4th highest number of signatures EVER for a citizen initiative!!).
