I’m very proud to announce that our initiatives have saved taxpayers OVER $70.5 BILLION so far. New total includes 2025 savings. GREAT NEWS! But the battle continues.

Fighting for taxpayers for 28 years

In the decades prior to 1999, state government was imposing a massive yearly tax for owning a vehicle.

That tax was based on your vehicle’s MANUFACTURERS SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE so it was massively inflated.

The tax was 2.2% multiplied by your vehicle’s artificially inflated value.

Vehicle owners were forced to pay hundreds and many times thousands of dollars EVERY YEAR just to own their vehicle(s).

But in 1999, voters passed our initiative that repealed it.

Then a judge said voters were confused.

But on that same day, then Democrat Governor Gary Locke said:

He immediately called a special session and his Democrat-controlled Legislature repealed the tax.

That part of history doesn’t get a lot of attention.

But what’s never been widely known was that the Democrats’ purposely drafted their bill to include a big loophole.

Shortly after the bill was signed, a lawsuit was filed by the Democrats’ allies that would have reinstated 1/3 of that old tax.

But before the courts could rule on that lawsuit, we sponsored and voters passed our 2002 initiative that repealed that remaining 1/3 (it also eliminated several local charges on vehicles).

Our two car tab initiatives — the one in 1999 and the one in 2002 — have saved taxpayers a combined $45,234,000,000 so far (from 2000 – 2025).

That’s right — $45.2 BILLION.

But as you know, we didn’t stop with just lowering car tabs.

We also targeted property tax increases with our initiatives.

In 2001, we sponsored and voters passed our initiative that lowered the maximum amount state government and each local government could increase property taxes each year (from 6% per government per year to 1% per year).

It was a huge victory and it did slow the growth of property taxes.

Then six years later in 2007, the court said voters were “misled” into voting for that initiative.

But then Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire called a special session and her Democrat-dominated Legislature reinstated the 1% limit.

So with 2025’s savings added in, I am very proud to announce that our initiatives have saved taxpayers $70,516,000,000.

Here’s the yearly breakdown:

Over $70.5 BILLION!

It’s amazing that we’ve accomplished so much together.

It really shows that our strategy of PERMANENT OFFENSE has been extremely effective.

All our victories happened because we worked together and fought for the taxpayers.

But the battle continues.

And I’m committed to continuing the fight.

That’s why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity.

I urge you to help me fight back against the AG’s abuse of power by donating to the Tim Eyman Legal Defense Fund so that Richard Sanders can get this ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.

I need your help to make sure this absurd legal precedent is never used against anyone else.

For 28 years, I’ve been fighting for the people of our state and our nation.

And the only reason I’m still here and I’m still fighting is because of the prayers, love, and support of wonderful friends like you who’ve seen this gross injustice and are willing to help.

I love you all.

Onward!
