Bob Ferguson and the Democrats did everything they could to stop the people from challenging their blatantly unconstitutional income tax:

* Democrats slapped a “necessity” clause on the bill to block a citizen referendum.

* That forced Brian Heywood to do an initiative instead (doubling the number of signatures required to qualify).

* Once the Democrats passed it, Bob Ferguson waited until the last day to sign it, which caused a 30 day delay for signature collection.

* Opponents filed frivolous lawsuits challenging the AG’s ballot titles to delay the start date even more.

* The post office took FOREVER to deliver pre-ordered petitions to the nearly 100K citizens who asked for them.

But despite all these roadblocks, Brian Heywood finally had the chance print petitions and kick-start the signature drive by being the first voter to sign (photo May 13th):

Getting 400K voter signatures in just 6 WEEKS was going to be a HUGE challenge.

BUT YOU DID IT!

And I heard this over and over and over again:

“It was the easiest signature I ever got. Folks just walked up and signed before I said anything.”

This is an amazing accomplishment and y’all deserve a huge pat on the back for it.
