Democrat Attorney General Bob Ferguson is our state’s top law enforcement officer.

He’s got time to sue Trump 99 times, sue a florist who didn’t want to do a gay wedding, and waste more taxpayer money going after me and my family than all other cases in the last 12 years combined.

But when a volunteer signature gatherer for Initiative 2066 gets arrested, handcuffed, strip searched, and spends hours in a criminal infested jail cell for collecting signatures at a public park, the AG has done nothing and said nothing.

It’s truly insane (these are screen captures from body cams from a public records request):

You can watch the whole thing here (it’s 57 minutes long — Bruce is drippingly polite and respectful despite this obvious civil rights violation).

LET ME EMPHASIZE THIS: this was in a public park.

The group that was using the public park for their event signed a contract that included this:

2.3 The Festival Association agrees that the Edmonds Arts Festival is a public event. The Festival Association further agrees that areas provided by the City that are covered under this Agreement, including but not limited to public right of way, streets, sidewalks, parks, parking lots, gardens, meeting halls and squares, are traditional public forums.

As a result, the Festival Association will permit citizens attending events open to the general public during the Edmonds Arts Festival to exercise therein their protected constitutional right to free speech without interference on City property.

Even more significantly, there have also been two federal rulings by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals which clearly state that collecting signatures at a public park — even the portion of it being “rented out” for an event — is guaranteed by the First Amendment and no one — not even a law enforcement officer — is allowed to interfere with that right.

And Bob Ferguson knows all this.

But he’s done nothing and said nothing.

Why?

Because Bruce Guthrie isn’t a donor to Bob Ferguson’s campaign.

I talked to Bruce this afternoon (his wife posted bail for him) and he confirmed he’s collected around 90 signatures for I-2066 so far.

Let’s not let this kind of incident deter us from getting signatures for a cause we believe in.

Let Bruce be an inspiration to all of us to stand up for our rights.

Today is Monday, June 24 and the deadline is July 5.

So there’s exactly 12 days left for everyone to get petitions, collect signatures, and mail in your partially-filled and fully-filled petitions for Initiative 2066.

It’s sponsored by the heroic leaders of LET’S GO WASHINGTON:

If you want to get a packet of petitions mailed to you, here’s the contact information for Let’s Go Washington.

If you want to sign a petition or drop off your petitions, here are the signing locations in your area.

Just 2 weeks left.

12 days including today.

Let’s help them get this critically important initiative on the November ballot.

Is it any wonder why Bully Bob Ferguson is trying so hard to impose a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

He’s wasted more taxpayer money going after me than all other cases in the last 12 years COMBINED!

I urge you to help me fight back against the AG’s abuse of power by donating to the Tim Eyman Legal Defense Fund so we can get this ridiculously unconstitutional ruling overturned.
